Walking on the water...

I posted this on facebook earlier, but it was just too funny not to remember here.  Bryan took the kids last night for a little impromptu hike right after I left for work (I love love love my little part time job...it's my guaranteed 2 hour weekly mini-cation).  Also, some background...Asher's going through a 3 year old phase right now where he listens a little less, asks why a little more, and is just constantly making Bryan and I prove what awesome parents we are (you get the funny sarchasm I hope).  This is why 4 is my favorite.  Three is completely and totally adorable, but it's a little exhausting, especially when you have a strong-willed smarty pants like I have.  So yeah, when I'm in the middle of the 3's, I hold out for the 4's :)

Anyways, so they are on the hike, and being the mountains and how wet it's been here lately, there are still quite a few big puddles in the trail.  Asher smiles his mischievious little smile and walks right to the edge of the water, looking at Bryan the whole time.

Bryan says, "Asher, don't walk in the water!"

Without missing a beat, Asher replies, "But Daddy, Jesus does!"

Bryan couldn't say anything, he was trying so hard not to laugh.  So many of our attempted disciplinings lately end in full blown laughter with this kid, so he was trying hard to be strong.  Next thing he knows, Asher keeps smiling while not breaking eye contact and walks right through the middle of the puddle

Asher:  1

Daddy:  0

He may have won this battle...but as parents, we will win, the BIGGER battle :)
