Bryan graduated from the U...twice (and Weber State once). Even though he has always loved BYU sports, he's a Ute, so where Zerin's die-hard dedication to the Cougars came from, we aren't quite sure, but it has spread like wildfire through our kids these last few weeks especially. Has anyone else had that song playing in their house non-stop for the last couple of weeks???? Although the loss to Florida last night was a sad one, I am secretly glad I may not be hearing a constant chorus of "Teach me how to Jimmer" from my 4 oldest kids. I love them, but singing in harmony...especially to a wannabe-quasi-rap song, it just isn't one of their strong points yet :)
The Jimmer shirts I ordered came just in the knick of time for the game last night...granted they only had 2 adult larges left, but Zerin didn't seem to mind :) Bryan was gone, but I'm sure he'll wear his...someday, maybe :) I painted the kids' faces, set the blanket out in front of the TV, and they all porked out on Taco Maker while we watched the Jimmer in action. It was a terrific game...'I' even got into it, and that's saying something. Aeden cheered 'Let's go, BYU!' for about 20 minutes straight. Zerin couldn't sit down he was so excited, and Asher kept yelling 'YAY B-Y-OOOO!!!!' Whoever says there is not much difference between girls and boys is, well, wrong :)
In the end though, Zerin was silent. I sent everyone to hurry and get ready for bed, and next thing I know, I see my always happy 9 year old with red swollen eyes, crying his heart out. I felt SO bad, but I almost laughed. He was convinced he was bad luck, because the last two games he has watched the entire game, BYU lost both times. We hugged, and he decided to console himself by writing an apology letter to Jimmer, taking full responsibility for the loss. Poor kid. He wore his shirt and his slightly faded face paint to school today, but seemed to be in a little better spirits :)

Faded facepaint is an apt symbol for the day the Jimmermania died.
Teach me how to Jimmer is sung everyday at our house. In fact I really wish that song would leave my head, but I find myself singing to Rylee all the time. I even overheard my girls in the bathroom together discussing Jimmer. That sure made Mike proud!!
