Bella turns ONE!

The day my sweet Belen was born was one of the happiest days of my life.  I was in awe of the fact that I had two beautiful daughters... TWO!  Two girls I could do their hair, dress them up, scrapbook with, do personal progress with, and shop with!  It was perfect as far as I was concerned.  I had beaten the Skelton odds by having one girl, so two was just, well, amazing :)  Not that I wasn't equally, wonderfully excited about each of my boys, there is just something kind of fairytale-ish about a mom and her girls.

Well, Bella turned 1 last week.  I know.  ONE!  Already!!!  She has grown up and changed so much in the last little while, I just want to bottle her and save her for later...I guess that's what blogs, journals and pictures are for :)

She is trying so hard to walk.  She'll take a few timid steps, and then sit down.  I figure she's not to concerned about walking, because she can get anywhere she needs to get by crawling/climbing, so she's just content to do her own thing :)

She LOVES her daddy!  There were a couple days last week where she hardly saw him, so when I brought her into see him one day, she nearly jumped out of my arms trying to get to him.  She just climbed on him and laid her head on his shoulder.  They share a special bond, no question.

She is working on her 4th tooth.  Teeth are just hard on kids, but she is just a trooper!  In fact, this week she caught the same gunk that the rest of the family had (stomach flu), and she's almost funny to watch.  She'll be happy, playing, laughing, then throw up, and go back to smiling and laughing, throw up some more, and then go back to playing.  That wouldn't mean much, except that everyone else that got this garbage looked half-dead for two days.  She's just a happy, happy little girl.

She loves her brothers and sister.  Zerin especially has a knack for always making her laugh.  He is so tender with her and cute, and fun...he is going to make a wonderful daddy some day :)  Liah loves to mother her.  She'll bring her into their room, close the door, and next thing I know the Taylor Swift is blaring, and I can hear them both singing :)  Aeden and Asher love playing with her, as long as she doesn't take over ;)

She has the prettiest hair!  It's blonde with just a little strawberry thrown in for good measure.  And her eyes...oh my stars, her eyes melt my heart.  When people see her for the first time, that is the first thing they mention about her.  She reminds me of Cindy Lou Who on The Grinch Who Stole Christmas :)

She decided to start gaining weight again once she started on formula.  From her 9 month visit, she gained over 5 lbs!  She's now well over 22 lbs, and oh you have no idea how relieved I am.

She has 3 comfort objects...her little glow seahorse, her silky bear blanket, and her first two fingers :)

She is a perfect sleeper.  She loves her naps, she loves her bedtime, and she almost always wakes up happy and babbling.

She has a special spirit around her.  She exudes happiness and joy, and just makes everything better and brighter.  She is such a gift to me.  I feel so blessed to know her.

She LOVES her grandmas!  Every time Grandma Hugie walks in the door, Belen lights up like a Christmas tree.  Mom can always make her giggle, and is one of the few that can distract her temporarily when she's hungry...you don't get in Belen's way when she's hungry!  And if you think that Grandma Skelton can come in the door without picking her up, well, that is one of the few times you'll see a full-blown tantrum from this little girl.  She can be a little demanding when it comes to getting her attention and hugs :)  I have to be careful when I'm walking the halls at church, because as soon as she sees Grandma, Grandma is all she wants :)  When we go visit Great Grandma Hugie, she scoots right over to her and waits to be held.  She's not one to hold still for too long, but it's like she knows Grandma can't hold her too easily, so she always just sits so calmly on her lap for a couple of minutes.  It's so sweet.  I deeply love both of my grandmas, so I am so happy Belen (as well as my other children) will have those same thoughts and feelings.

One of her favorite things to do is to crawl around the tramp.  This is fun for her, and great exercise for me, because she is so stinkin' fast!!!  I love it though, because after about 5 minutes, her wispy hair is sticking straight out in all directions :)  She also loves to swing.  I wish I had a better swing for her over by my garden, because I think if I let her she'd sit in that thing for hours.  Zerin was the same way...he LOVED to swing!

So that's my Bella in a nutshell.  She is so perfect for our family, and I am just so blessed to be her mother.
