Summer's Over...

I am still in a bit of disbelief that it really is August 21st today (Happy Birthday President Monson!).  I wish I could go back to June :)  Who knew summer could be so enjoyable when you aren't pregnant ;)

I was talking to a friend last night about how in years past, the week before school we'll practice getting back in our routine to get the kids used to things before school actually starts, but that this year, we both just bagged it :)  By the 2nd day you are dragging them out of bed anyway, so why not enjoy the last couple days?  It made for a much more fun last week of summer break.

I did a countdown chain for the last few days because I don't know about you, but every few minutes I get the question, 'How many more days until___________?'  The chain worked great :)  Each day had a fun little thing we got to do.  Here were some of ours....

Go on a hike
Visit Sister So&so and take her flowers
Go to the fair
Go to the zoo
Have a friend party
Have a cousin movie night
Have a family game night
Go on a picnic in the mountains
etc... you get the idea.

And then on the first day of school, I have been saving my pennies for something extra special, but more on that to come.  I hope they like it.

I love the count down chain with things to do. Please remind me to do one next year at the end of summer! Great Idea!
