Now I am his wife, so I do have some measure of bias involved, but I can honestly say, I could only hope that our kids could have a principal as devoted to children and education as my husband is (actually, their principal right now is great, so I feel pretty blessed).
A lot of his current friends/co-workers read my blog, so I'm sure they'll correct me if I'm off, but here are some of the things that I THINK will make Bryan an AWESOME principal...
Bryan is the kind of administrator who plays with the kids during recess (you can tell a lot about a person's priorities by how they spend their "free" time). He is the kind of administrator that makes learning fun. He is the kind of teacher that makes the little lightbulbs go on in kids' minds. He is the kind of administrator that works with you, not over you. He is the kind of adminstrator that takes the yearbook home over the summer to memorize all the kids' names and faces. He is an incessant tease, so work is NEVER boring! I could go on, but basically, he is passionate about his profession, and in my humble opinion (hahaha) whichever school gets him, is SO lucky!!!
So we just found out there are two, yes TWO schools open for new hires in our school district. This is a big deal since they have spent the last several months telling the interns there wouldn't be any this year. The two schools are in our same city (again a big deal since he now commutes 40+ minutes each way), and both are in the boundaries of our old ward. Sound too good to be true?! Yeah, that's what I thought too :) Last year, we found out on our anniversary, that in spite of being one of 3 making it to the final round in the application process, he didn't get the job. This year, the date to most likely find out lands on the day before our 10 year anniversary, so I'm glad of that ;)
Because of the economy, and the apparent lack of principalship openings, this is the first year he has applied outside of our district. The other 3 districts he has applied to will also be deciding soon, but I'm glad our district will be deciding first.
So here's to hoping it goes well. After everything, I am a little proud of myself that I am allowing myself to be hopeful about this. I would love to follow this post up with a "Guess What?!" :)
So if you find yourself sitting in a committee in one of these two schools, and you see the name "Bryan Skelton," remember the turkey!!! I promise, you won't be sorry!!! :)
His name is Bryan, and he would most likely not approve of this message ;)

I think Bryan is fantastic, and I agree that any school that gets him will be better for it! GOOD LUCK!
Bryan would make an awesome principal and any school would be so lucky to have him!
The kids adore him and he definitely adds a lot of FUN to our school. I so hope he gets one of the positions even though he will be greatly missed! Good Luck!!!
We NEVER have a dull moment with Bryan at SWE. Yesterday, on my desk was a puddle of blue goo with a little person floating (like a lake). All afternoon I let it sit there, finally calling Bryan to come "rescue" the little person. When he got to my office, he said "it was not him this time." Of course, not believeing this tale, we inquired further and found it was one of our darling second graders who "learned from the master!" Bryan would make a WONDERFUL principal.....although a huge loss in so many ways for me and SWE, we're willing to let him go.
Tif, you truly are an excellent wife! I loved this post - Bryan's own personal behind-the-scenes cheerleader, never afraid to stick her neck out for her hubbie.
And, having known Bryan in a professional aspect prior to knowing him personally, I have to say I agree. I hope he gets the job too. Good Luck!
