How much I love my neighbor...chapter 3

In case I am losing some of you, a couple posts ago, I decided to write a bit of our history down, so that's what all this nonsense is in case you were wondering.

I had a wonderful student ward (even though I was no student). At this point in the game I had wonderful roommates and terrific neighbors that were basically extended roommates, like extended family. One of these extended family members called me in a dither one day because her work had given her these tickets to the Capital Theater for Ballet West's Sleeping Beauty. The dither came because she knew who she had to ask, but there was no way on this green earth she was going alone, and would I PLEASE ask someone to go with her.

Now, I will spare you the horrendous details of why, but I had recently had 3 fairly traumatic experiences boy wise that had all but convinced me that I would be better off on a desert island far away from the male species. So go on a blind date?! If this girl wasn't "family," there would be NO way I would subject myself to that kind of pain, humiliation and frustration again. Besides, who in the world would I ask?! I had pretty much exhausted all of my resourses from the Utah-Idaho border to Happy Valley over the past 4 years.

I was complaining about my dilema to Colin (the former grounds kid turned paper pusher) when he suggested Bryan. "Teased-me-about-my-Star Wars Tickets-Bryan? (I didn't yet know about how "kind" he had been with my plant) No way!" Colin worked on me for several minutes, convincing me Bryan was so nice, that even if the homliest girl in the world asked him out, he would still say yes. I didn't quite know what to make of that, but as I was just a few days out from this event, I was getting desperate, and really, all I needed was a warm body and an affirmative answer.

So, much to the relief of my twitterpated neighbor, I called him up, and he said yes. Little did we know....
