February 20 & 21 - The Wallet..chapter 8

Once again, I was right, and Bryan didn't follow up. I was SURE on the way home from Antelope Island he would say something about how he had work off on Monday and did I want to do something...nope. I got a half hug from him at my door (you know, one of those brotherly side hugs) and quick as a wink he was gone.

I spent all of Saturday night and Sunday figuring out my next move. He WAS supposed to be my husband! I knew that, and I was pretty sure he knew but, but dang it if he wouldn't do something about it. Then, late into Sunday evening, I had an ephiphany I can only attribute to divine intervention....my wallet was STILL in his glove compartment. Some people would say this was a deliberate attempt by me to insure another date. Well, as flattering as that is, let me just say I am not (and was not) that smart...and Bryan was the one who suggested I put it there. I tell him now all the time, if he wants me not to forget something DON'T PUT IT AWAY!

So I had an excuse...now I just needed some courage. I remembered he had to water the temple plants and flowers early Monday morning, so even though it was a holiday (President's Day) I figured there was a good chance I could catch him if I called early enough. So, at about 7:30 am, I called, but to my dismay, his boss was covering the temple for him and he really DID have the day off. What to do??? So, I explained my pathetic situation to his coworker and told her how desperately I needed to get my wallet today. She took pity on me, and gave me his home number. Agony.

About an hour later, I worked up more courage, and called his house. His mom answered. More agony. To be honest, I remember nothing of the conversation...I was far too nervous, other than she sounded really young to have a son that old. In any event, he got on the phone, and was like, "oh yeah." Then he said something like, well, as long as I have you on the phone, I'm going hiking with Colin and Andrea up Mueller Park today, you want to come?

Mission accomplished :)
