a{MAY}zing...

Another month got away from me...I am convinced I will never be caught up with things again :)

May 3:  I went to the Kindergarten field trip with Aeden to the zoo.  I don't get nearly as many opportunities as I would like with just Aeden, so this was such a fun, perfect day.  We giggled all day long and had so much fun being there together with the rest of his classmates.

May 5:  My adorable sister, Jenni, graduated from Utah State in Elementary Education.  She accomplished something no one else in our family has up to this point, and I am so so proud of her!  She is a gift to me, and she will make an amazing teacher.

May 5:  12th Anniversary.  I have been married for a dozen years...crazisauce!!!  Trust me, it sounds a lot longer than it feels.  What if the next 12 years go by that fast?!

May 7:  After a little over 3 months, Mandalen got her helmet off.  I miss her little pink helmet face, but oh how I love love love being able to feel her face against mine again.  I have missed it SOOOOO much!!!!

May 10:  Bryan's sister, Marné, got married in the Logan Temple.  It was a picture perfect morning!
May 18:  Bryan borrowed my Mom's jeep (I have borrowed more of that woman's vehicles lately!  Thanks Mom :)) and his Dad's trailer, and took the boys to the Fathers & Sons Campout.  The boys had so much fun...Aeden came home slightly delirious...I don't think he stopped talking for a breath the entire weekend ;) Asher is a creature of habit, and so as much fun as it was, he loves to be home, and was ready to come back when it was over.  Zerin, our little scout, was passing off belt loops and pins like crazy.  His one disappointment came when his favorite baseball hat, the St. Louis Cardinal's playoff game hat, was lost in the river.  Like the bright, impulsive boy of 10 that he is, he tried to go in after it, but thankfully Bryan happened to be watching and intervened before it became a truly tragic story.  The hat is still gone, but I still have my Zerin, so for that I am very thankful.  Bryan has decided that even though Alex LOVES camping, that Alex HATES sleeping anywhere but home.  Every little sound made him cry and whine and growl.  Poor little guy.
May 21:  Zerin and Liah had their spring piano recital.  Their piano teacher, is one of my dear friends, and has fostered a lot of growth in each of them.  I was so proud of each of them, and for different reasons.
May 23:  I volunteered at Zerin's Mountain Man Rendevous the 4th grade at his school sponsors.  It was so amazing and fun.  One of our good friends from our old old ward in Layton actually runs it with his brother in honor of his nephew that passed away.  Zerin actually hit the target twice, which is pretty good I guess from what I hear.  I would say he would make a terrific hunter, except that they had to catch a fish with their hands and my sweet, wonderful, I-want-to-smother-him-with-kisses-son nearly cried because he felt so bad for killing the fish.  I can think of few things that have made me as proud as that did.

I was in charge of the pie eating contest and the tug-o-war.  We weren't sure if we would have enough pies, so I made Aeden wait until the kids were all finished before he could have one, and he challenged me to a race.  Being the mature adult I am, I modestly accepted (truth be told, I was just REALLY hungry!).  It was so fun!  And yes, he beat me :)  My sweet friend, LeighAnn was nice enough to take these beautiful pictures of it all for me since I couldn't get away from my event.
I made nearly 80 of these little pencil holders to give out as prizes.  I was surprised, but the kids actually seemed excited about them...bonus! :)  And Bryan wasn't too sad about the tree I cut down in our yard in order to make them.  Good thing he loves me and all my many crazy messy projects ;)

Kylin and Zerin and their amazing spaghetti bridge that held over 28 lbs without breaking!
May 24:  Zerin did amazing in the Math and Science Olympiad for his school this year (it's for 4th, 5th and 6th graders).  There are 6 events, and each events has two students represent their school for their grade.  Zerin won 4 of the 6 events and so he was a good chunk of the team this year at the District Math and Science Olympiad.  It was so much fun to watch him compete in Trebuchet (catapult), Mystery Architecture (bridge building), Krypto (a math game), and Logical Fact Fun.  The best part was he and his buddy Josh won 3rd place in Logical Fact Fun so he was able to get a medal and everything!!!  Afterwards, me and another mom took him and 3 of his friends out to eat at Inn and Out.  It felt so good to laugh and just relax for a little while.

Also that day, my brother Cody and his wonderful wife, Cindy, were able to adopt their two little foster boys.  I was so sad I wasn't able to be there with them, but it made me so happy to know that their family is expanding.  I love my little nephews :)  Their little boy Jonathan is the oldest at 5 1/2, then Scott is close behind as he turns 5 today, and Tyler is now 4.  They are being sealed in a couple of weeks and can I just tell you how over the top excited I am?! :)

And now we are at Memorial Day Weekend!!!!  Not that we are doing anything exciting, but to me the exciting thing is we aren't doing anything, which is why the extra exclamation points are warranted :)
