Happy 10th 2nd Birthday Cindy!!!

Ten years ago this past November, my then future sister-in-law, Cindy, had a bone marrow transplant for leukemia.  Ironically in the same hospital, two doors down the hall was my dad who had also just received his own bone marrow transplant.  We didn't know Cindy or her family before Dad's illness, but we came acquainted with them throughout the course of Dad's stay.  Months later, she would meet my brother at an institute dance, and it would only be after dating for a while that they would make the connection of the hospital (my brother was on his mission when my dad was diagnosed, treated and passed away, so he never met Cindy during that whole time).

When you get a bone marrow transplant and become a cancer survivor, you get to start celebrating a 2nd birthday.  Because the process of preparing for and receiving the transplant literally takes you to the edge of death, and brings you back to life, survivors celebrate these 2nd birthdays on the anniversary of their transplant date.

So back to Cindy, we went to Hyrum to celebrate her '10th 2nd birthday.'  Her actual birthday (#29) is
Tuesday, so even more cause to celebrate!

Cindy and Belen :)

That is pretty darn amazing. Thanks for sharing that. What a miracle! I love to hear stories like that.
