A Whole Box of Twinkies Day

You know those days where you are so filled with angst that if someone put an entire box of your favorite treat in front of you, it would be ravenously devoured before you even realized what had happened? No? Well, today is one of those days, so I'm using my willpower to NOT go buy a box of twinkies. When they talk about manna from heaven in the bible, I am pretty sure it was Twinkies. Those things are [insert choir singing] heavenly! And since I just fit into the last pair of pre-pregnancy pants that was still elluding me, I have almost no guilt.

I have handled this whole interview process pretty well, I have to say (which isn't saying much since I'm not the one interviewing). I haven't been too nervous, and in spite of the lesson history seems hell-bent on teaching me about NOT getting my hopes up, once again, I am hopeful. This comes on the heels of finding out that Bryan's 2nd job is restructuring, so he, along with many others, may lose that job. So yes, given the pressure, I was proud of myself for being fairly calm. For Bryan to finally be able to do what he truly loves, that would be an amazing gift. And to be able to get looming bills and loans paid off, and start doing some good in the world, I seriously can't wait.

Davis District is the first district to interview for principals, for which we were very glad. Other districts pay more (Salt Lake pays nearly 20K more), but being on the same schedule as the kids, all of the contacts and people he knows, as well as 8 years of experience in dealing with Davis District policy, Davis is definitely our first choice.

There ended up being 4 openings (I KNOW...I was shocked too!). The two in Bountiful I already mentioned, and then Fremont Elementary in Sunset, and Columbia Elementary in Kaysville.

Tuesday evening, he got a call that he was selected as 1 of 6 candidates to interview for Fremont's position. The guy who called him was actually the same one who was instrumental in him being hired as an asst. principal. He really likes Bryan, and you could tell he was very happy that Bryan was selected to interview. Wow. Ecstacy, seriously :) Wednesday morning, he got another call, this time to interview for Columbia's position. Ecstacy was replaced by disbelief. At the end of the day, he got another call that he was selected to interview at Orchard. Interviews at 3 of the 4 open schools, it was almost too good to be true. Disbelief then started to be replaced with whatever comes after disbelief...I don't know if it has a name.

Yesterday he interviewed at Fremont, right now he is at Columbia, and Monday he'll interview at Orchard. The nice thing is that they will most likely announce the new principals at the school board meeting Tuesday night, so one way or the other, we'll know by then.

That calm, non-worriedness I was telling you I was enjoying?! Not so much anymore. I'm just walking in circles, in my pajamas...trying to focus long enough to get ready. Alex and Danelle are kidnapping our kids so we can go overnight somewhere for our 10th anniversary. It will be 10 years on Tuesday, can you believe it?! I'm so garbled right now, tonight may as well be another 10 years away, but I think it will be fun to just enjoy a little quiet together...Belen will be coming because for some reason, she think she needs to eat or something, but 1 kid compared to 5 will seem like nothing, so I am very excited, and very grateful. Taking on 5 kids is no small feat.

I think I'll get up and get dressed, and then go buy some twinkies.

Job stuff is so stressful. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Bryan. I can SO relate to the box of twinkies day though...although I do have major guilt about it. I'm hoping to keep my weight gain in the normal range this time. :) I had one of those days Monday. Did you see my post http://uboldifamily.blogspot.com/2010/04/weird-day.html Yep, a whole box of twinkies day for sure! ;)
