One down...

We got one doctor visit (sort of) down today, and have ??? to go, YAY! Today was Liah's appointment with the audiologist. She failed her hearing test at school last month, so they referred us to the District's audiologist for a more specialized test (I love Davis District, seriously!). Well, they classified her as having a mild hearing loss, but he thinks it may be attributed to an ear infection that won't clear up, so he referred us to an ENT whom we will go to this week. She's already had one set of tubes and other such nonsense when she was 18 months, but that may be the road we have to take again, we'll just see.

In any case, he said it probably sounds to her like people are talking under a bit of water. That would also explain why she has to jack the TV and music up so loud, so no more getting frustrated with her about that, ey ;) Anyways, so after we see what this next doc says, we'll head back to the audiologist and see if there has been any improvement. They are all so willing/eager to help her, it just makes my heart happy. Her teacher offered today at parent teacher conferences to move her closer to the front, or even to use a type of microphone thing to help her hear better. I don't know that we are quite to that point yet, but it just made me feel so good to know people are ready and willing to help her if we need it. Good stuff :)

That's what I get to do with Caleb tomorrow. The funny thing is, Katrina failed the same test at this age and when she was retested she was fine. Who knows what tomorrow brings?? I do love the audiologists there. They were so loving with Katrina.

That is what we have been dealing with for a year with Preston. It's such a pain and we still don't have great answers. The problem is he is younger and not cooperative at all for the hearing tests so it's hard for them to know what they're really looking at. For now, we're just thrilled that he's talking and that is progress enough...until we can get the little stinker to actually do the test. Last time (4 months ago) the audiologist started the test by saying, "Can you show me where your nose is? Where's your nose?" He responded with "No. No tanks" and soon after let me know he was done sitting in the sound booth with a "I no like it mommy." I have to agree it is a little weird in there. Thank goodness Liah is old enough to understand and not be too weirded out by the hearing test. Hopefully everything will be fine. Waiting and worrying is usually the worst part! Good luck!

Good luck we did that with Alex also. He went through two sets of tubes before the discovered it was his tonsils and adnoids that was causing the problems.
