I am not one that likes to roll in political hotbeds. There are many reasons for this, one being that I am far less eloquent than most, so my feelings and opinions get lost in the blubbering words I come up with to try and express myself with. But this world I find myself in has no room for fence sitters or yes men. So, though the words are not my own, they sum up how I feel.

Wow, how perfect. Thank you Tiffany.
That spoke to me! Thanks for posting it. I love Elder Maxwell. I can't believe that talk was from 1978. Talk about prophetic. Amazing...
WOW! Does that fit our day or what? I'm with Elder Maxwell and I am not the most eloquent of speakers when I try to discuss the feelings stirred within me when considering our political situations.
Just for, I don't know, controversy, to provoke thought - there are a lot of so-called fence sitters who are struggling to find their way to the right answers on many issues of the heart. We are told to study things out in our minds and pray. It's not a sin to have doubt, to ponder, even to question the instructions of our leaders. We are entitled to personal revelation - in my experience, doubt can eventually provide and strengthen testimony and God doesn't hate you for not immediately jumping off the fence and standing on the "right" side.
I think it's fine to sit on the fence while you're working things out. However, if you seek guidance and the Holy Ghost comes through ... then you have a burden of another sort to carry.
And THAT is why I love you, Brandy :)
My definition of a fence sitter is someone who is indifferent, someone who fails to invest the time into gaining that personal revelation, and someone who, to protect their own image, or the feelings of others, does and says nothing. The sin, in my mind, is in apathy, not indecision.
The types of people you describe, are desiring, trying, pushing, testing, wrestling, and ultimately WILL decide. I guess that's a long way of saying, I don't see the folks you described as fence-sitters...maybe just slow motion hurdlers :)
Thanks - you rock. Definitions ... I like definitions. They make communicating so much ... easier.
