Our 2nd Annual Skelton Christmas Light Decorating Contest

Last year, we started a tradition that I found in Family Fun magazine, and it's one of our favorites! We make up little trophies (usually brown paper sacks, with the award name written on them) filled with cookies or other yummy treats. This year, some of the categories included:
  1. Christmas Spirit award

  2. Most Impressive Icicle award

  3. Most Gingerbread-like House award

  4. Biggest and Best award

  5. Best Use of Inflatable Creatures award

  6. Most Colorful Display award

  7. Skelton All-Around Favorite House award

  8. Best Use of the Color Blue award

  9. True Meaning of Christmas Award

  10. Best Use of One String of Lights award

  11. Most Decorated Windows award

  12. Best Use of Twinkle Lights award

  13. Cutest Christmas Tree in a Window award

  14. Best All-Around Use of Different Types of Decorations award

Throughout the holiday season, we make a note of our favorite homes. Then, the family night before Christmas, we pass out the awards. My sister, Jenni, came down for this year's presentation, and it was so much fun. There is something magical about watching people recieve an award. It doesn't matter what it's for, or that they don't know you...people love getting awards! Last year, Aeden was a little too small to keep up, but this year, he stole the show. I think he struck up an in-depth conversation with nearly everyone he awarded...nearly almost half of the time, ended the conversation abruptly with a "Mew-ee Cwistmas!" :)
