Handcart Days

We went to the Handcart Days parade...with a twist! We watched my 2 little cousins, and we invited Zerin's friend to come with us...7 kids!!! Bryan's sister also came with us (which was SO great because Bryan wasn't feeling very good...thanks Marne!). It was a little crazy, but oh how I love the craziness! In spite of the sweltering heat, it was a smashing success!
I love Pioneer Day so much. Okay, I love pretty much any holiday. I love family traditions, and I am addicted to seeing my kids have fun. This year, I was a little off my game, so I cheated a little on one of our traditions...the annual 24th of July Skelton Family Fishing Pond! Usually, I buy a bunch of inexpensive 5 minute toys (5 minute toys because they are usually broken in about 5 minutes) and the kids get to "go fishing" behind my bedsheet in the backyard. This year, we went to the Handcart Days Celebration in Bountiful, and they had one there, so we just did that one. I pledge to never again cheat...but it was still fun :) Zerin and Aeden got little trucks, and Liah got a gorgeous plastic ruby and diamond ring!

Liah and Aeden played with a bunch of pioneer toys. These were little bears you could make climb the rope. Aeden thought it was great :)
The stick pull!!! Oh my goodness...so my kids have stick pulling competitions at home...so when I saw this there, we simply had to stop :) Zerin had to wait a while in line for cotton candy, so Aeden and Liah took a turn...so funny!

I also got some GREAT pictures of the kids sawing a log, and me pulling all of them in a handcart. I know, precious :) Alas, the pictures were taken by someone else, and you know when you tell someone to hold the button down for a few seconds and they barely push it and think they took the picture?! Yeah, that's what happened. Oh well...just imagine with me...

Bummer about the pictures but it looks like you had a blast!! I will imagine with you (because we didn't get over to the park to enjoy the festivities there so imagining will work!)
So glad that ya'll had a great time at the parade - you're brave to take that many kids in that kind of heat - but what great memories!!

Man.. That is one GOOD LOOKING FIRETRUCK! ( I can say that because it's MINE!) Ok, it's really everyone's in the South Davis area, but that's the one I work off most! Mine, mine, mine... Love ya Tiff!

Hello there! I keep thinking that Aedan is Zerin. I can't believe how grown up your kids are! Looks like you are always having fun in some way or another.
